Goal

To provide basic literacy and numeracy education to working children aged 8–14 years in hard-to-reach areas and enhance their opportunities for personal development, social participation and a better future.

Objective

  • - To provide basic literacy and numeracy skills to working children aged 8–14 years who have limited or no access to formal education.
  • - To improve the reading, writing and basic mathematical skills of participating working children through appropriate non-formal education approaches.
  • - To create opportunities for working children to continue their education and develop their knowledge, confidence and life skills.
  • - To increase awareness among children and their families about the importance of education, child rights, health, hygiene and protection from harmful work environments.
  • - To establish a child-friendly and flexible learning environment suitable for working children in hard-to-reach communities.

Major Activities

  • - Community survey and identification of beneficiaries;
  • - Establishment of Non-Formal Education Centers;
  • - Recruitment and orientation of teachers;
  • - Basic literacy and numeracy education;
  • - Life skills and awareness education;
  • - Parent/community involvement;
  • - Monitoring and assessment;
  • - Transition and linkage with formal education;
