Training Program
CEDAR's training cell at a glance.
CEDAR (Concern for Environmental Development And Research) established a separate training cell in 1998, starting from the Foundation Training of NFE teachers with the financial assistance of the Directorate of Non-Formal Education (DNFE), to enhance the capacity building of NFE teachers. The initial aim of the Training Cell was to develop the skills of CEDAR's staff with the necessary communication and management skills to help them do their best — done through outside expert support who shared their learning. After that, CEDAR hired some skilled trainers to develop the training cell. Mr. Jyoti Bhushan Sarkar and Mrs. Zakia Rahman were the first resource persons for the CEDAR training cell.
Over the period, the training cell has been equipped with skilled and experienced training personnel along with physical facilities. The training facilities at Dhaka HQ are equipped with modern aids including audio-visual support, with an accommodation capacity of 25–30 participants. In 2006, the training cell was expanded to Kamrangirchar, Dhaka and Araihazar, Narayanganj. Now, the CEDAR training cell runs with a few full- and part-time trainers, in both the credit and project's wing, with particular experience in microfinance, entrepreneurship development, livelihood promotion, water, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare, gender, management of community institutions, project management, monitoring, etc. CEDAR's training team has a good track record of providing training support internally and to external institutions.
